Carta!

Esse finde fui obrigada a acabar minha carta pra host family. Deixei pra última hora! Aí minha professora de inglês já deu uma revisadinha básica, né, não quero fazer feio. Tenho que agradecer por todas as dicas que todo mundo deixa nos seus blogs sobre como fazer a carta! E também sobre como fazer a foto colagem! Foram realmente MUITO úteis! Valeu pelas dicas. E quem não escreveu a carta ainda, vale a pena procurar pelas dicas.

Segue a carta então. O que acharam?

Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Renata, I am 18 years old, and I am Braziliam. I live in Rio Grande do Sul in the South of Brazil, in a city that is 40 kilometer from the capital, called Novo Hamburgo. I live with my parents and my brother. I have also a sister, but she doesn’t live with me anymore, she is married.

I like my family a lot, and on the weekend I like to do something with them. During the week we have busy days, because my parents work, my brother and I study. Then, usually on Sunday, we have lunch together. And some Sundays, we go to my grandmother’s house and we have lunch with my mother’s brothers and sister and their families. Then I can stay with my little cousin, that I love. Besides, I like to go out with my friends, to go to parks, to drink “chimarrão”, a tipical drink from here. I like to read too. I read a lot of books, I am always reading.

During the week I study. I am at College, doing Accounting. I study at night. In the morning, I work in a day care center. I start to work at 8 a.m. It’s early because I have to give breakfast to the children. During the morning, we play, read stories, go to the playground, and my coworkers and I have to change the diapers too. Then, we give lunch for them and put them in bed. This is my last task at work. In the afternoon I have to do my own things. Papers to school and things like that. And at night I study. My course at College is very good, I learn about organization, reponsability and methodology.

I realized that I want to work with children, because all children like me. The first children I had to take care were my two cousins, and since they were babies, they like to stay with me. And each day I like more them. I saw them growing up and this is a very beautiful thing. The thing I like to do more with children is reading stories. The children always like, because I tell stories about animals, and I can interact with them. I love kids that are 1 and 2 years old, because I appreciate their innocence. I like to see the way they are learning new things each day. The kids at school like me because I am lovely with them. I can be authoritative and sweet at the same time.

I like children that are older than 2 years too. This children play more and I can do different kinds of games, like pedagogic games, because they are learning the words. It’s nice to have a car, to know new places with the children. We can go by bus, but a car is always more comfortable, practical and safe.

My first language is Portuguese. But I study English since 2004 and this year I will graduate in my English course. This is one of the reasons I want to be an Au Pair: to improve my English. Besides, I want to study, know new people and new places and drive. And of course, I want to take care of children because I like them. I think it is important to experience a new culture, for me and for children. Then, I will experience the American culture and I will pass on my Braziliam culture to the children.
